What is Piano Pronto?

Piano Pronto is a series of graded lesson books which spans from beginning to early advanced levels. Piano Pronto piano lesson books are designed to get students playing real songs from day one! Students learn to read music immediately. The books include music from a wide array of genres including classical, jazz, folk, and pop tunes. A step-by-step approach allows the lesson books to be easily used by piano teachers or parents with some music background interested in teaching their children. The Piano Pronto series is also ideal for homeschoolers looking to incorporate music education into their curriculum.

Is this an All-in-one Course?

Not exactly, but it’s pretty close!  Each book in the Piano Pronto series includes sheet music, explanations about musical concepts and terminology, written music theory exercises, suggestions for practice techniques, and music history lessons.

Why should I choose Piano Pronto?

The Piano Pronto series utilizes unique and motivating material that is suitable for students of all ages. Most of the pieces in the Piano Pronto series are recognizable tunes that students are familiar with, making it easier to practice effectively and progress at a faster rate.

I don’t really like arrangements, can you convince me otherwise?

This is one of my favorite topics!  The backbone of the Piano Pronto series is the familiarity of the repertoire.  I wrote the series over a ten-year period and road-tested all of the materials on hundreds of students of all levels, backgrounds, and ages.  My conclusion is that when the repertoire is familiar to the students then it is generally easier for them to practice effectively at home.  When practice time increases so does progress!

I realize that many arrangements of classical repertoire are sub-par.  I took great care and effort to maintain the integrity of the original works of the pieces in the Piano Pronto series.  As a classically trained pianist myself I would settle for nothing less.  I believe firmly that we are not ‘just’ piano teachers, but music educators that should expose students to all genres of music, not just standard piano literature.

It is also important to realize that students are drawn towards the piano because of certain iconic melodies that they strive to learn.  I do not subscribe to the philosophy that we as teachers should make them ‘wait’ to play original versions of famous tunes simply because they need to ‘earn’ the right to play these melodies.  Reaching these milestone pieces early on in the process is often the primary factor keeping students of all ages motivated and excited about the learning process.
