About the composer

Stacy Fahrion

Stacy Fahrion

Stacy Fahrion writes in a style she calls “Whimsically Macabre.” Many of her compositions have been concocted from the remains of nursery rhymes. Her music has been described as “offbeat quirky seriously beautifully funny mischievously madly serious.” Stacy holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, and teaches piano lessons in Denver. She enjoys performing at house concerts, and when she’s not conjuring up new pieces, she can usually be found hiking in the mountains.

Want something to play for a person's birthday that no one else will know? This is perfect. It's macabre, it's very 12-tone, and anyone singing along will dissolve into laughter or confused expressions. I love playing this one for my college students' birthdays! Definitely an intermediate or above piece.

This is so clever and even charming in its own grim, grisly way. Suitable for those novelty middle-aged birthday parties where everyone jokes about the recipient being old. It's also a really good, accessible introduction to German Expressionism. And it's free!!
