This hornpipe composed by Jenny Walker is a lively piece, depicting a jolly sea dance on the deck of a pirate ship. Captain Conrad is fictitious and is portrayed as a cheeky chap. The middle section is a smoother, minor feel, depicting the rolling waves as the ship becomes unsteady.

It Is Well with My Soul in a lyrical setting with splashes of J.S. Bach’s “Arioso” from BWV 156 & 1056. This pensive solo, arranged by Jennifer Eklund, is ideal for late intermediates.

Goodnight, Sweet Dreams is a Composers Today award winning composition by Lisa Donovan Lukas. An inspirational contemporary lyrical showcase solo, ideal for the advanced student.

Blow the Wind Southerly is a traditional folk song from Northumberland, England arranged by Jenny Walker. Another familiar melody, “When the Boat Comes In” is combined with the main theme in the middle of the piece. The work tells the story of a woman desperately hoping for a southerly wind to blow her lover back home over the ocean to her. This is a variation-style piece going through several keys, suitable for the late-intermediate pianists.

Based on the traditional English folk song and nursery rhyme, “Lavender’s Blue,” this delightful arrangement by Jenny Walker adds unexpected harmonies and key changes. The march-like 4/4 section gives a new, sombre feel which quickly gives way to a brighter, more flamboyant ending.

Goldeneyes’ Farewell is a gorgeous impressionistic tribute to ten migrating Goldeneye ducks that Debbie Center photographed in front of her Minnesota lake home. Ideal for intermediate level pianists.

A worshipful intermediate solo by teacher and church pianist Christina Mathis. With its lyrical melody and full chords, this piece will enhance any worship service or recital.

Creepy Critter Dance, composed by Paul Sweet, is a cheeky, creepy showcase solo for early intermediates. Spooky harmonies and upbeat patterns make it a great selection for Halloween recitals or any time of the year!
