The Sussex Carol (sometimes called “On Christmas Night All Christians Sing”) is a very popular carol in England. This arrangement by Jenny Walker, has a jaunty, 6/8 feel and is similar in style to “I Saw Three Ships”. It is a lovely, lilting carol with a joyous, rhythmic sway.

Sonatine Francaise is an elegant multi-movement classical work composed by Barbara Becker. This piece is full of evocative, lush harmonies in a French style, and is appropriate for intermediates of all ages.

Draw Me Nearer in a lush virtuosic setting arranged by Christina Mathis. This sacred favorite is ideal for advanced pianists.

This is the first “Whimsically Macabre” composition Stacy Fahrion wrote, back in 2012. It begins with a quote from Chopin’s Winter Wind Etude, then segues into hints of a slightly menacing version of Do You Know the Muffin Man.

Blow the Wind Southerly is a traditional folk song from Northumberland, England arranged by Jenny Walker. Another familiar melody, “When the Boat Comes In” is combined with the main theme in the middle of the piece. The work tells the story of a woman desperately hoping for a southerly wind to blow her lover back home over the ocean to her. This is a variation-style piece going through several keys, suitable for the late-intermediate pianists.

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today in a majestic setting arranged by Sarah Reaser O’Brien. This sacred Easter classic is full of lush modern harmonies and will be enjoyed by late intermediates of all ages. Includes a full sheet of lyrics with all verses.

Three Moods for Piano, composed by Rick Robertson, is an late intermediate level triptych in a percussive twentieth-century style. The outer movements, both crisp and rhythmic (the first in constantly changing meters) flank a short, expressive middle movement. It is very effective in performance, and makes an excellent repertoire choice for a developing pianist.

O Come, All Ye Faithful arranged as a contemporary lyrical piano solo for intermediates. This piece is part of the Christmas Classics Volume 2 songbook by Jennifer Eklund.
