Walkin’ the Dawg is a bright jazzy swing piece with a bluesy feel by Gary Johnston. Great introduction to learning walking bass lines for the intermediate pianist.
Twilight (Crepuscule) is a simple, but beautiful song by Jules Massenet (1842-1912). Here it is arranged by Rick Robertson for piano solo. This will give the expressive student an opportunity to work on shaping long lines. It is also useful as service or wedding music. It also makes a nice encore.
Get your body moving with this upbeat boogie-style solo by Paul Sweet. It’s great for working on syncopations, building left-hand agility, teaching the blues scale, and having some major fun!
Creepy Crawly Icky Things by Rick Robertson is an early intermediate level showcase solo. This piece is especially useful as a “spooky” or “creepy” solo for Halloween recitals, but it could be used in any other non-seasonal program. The “crawly” figures divided between the hand feature chromatic passage and unfamiliar note patterns.
