This is one of those fabulous pieces that certain students (the difficult ones) like.....I assigned this to a student who needed a win. She won't look at her music (just stares at her hands), so she loses her spot constantly She's not very good at reading music, so things that she learns on her own are fraught with errors. (And then I struggle: fix this millionth error, or just leave it go today? Where's the balance? I don't want to damage her self-esteem, etc.) Enter this piece. There are two distinct sections, and each section is repeated with a slight variation. So, she can keep her spot (play the A section, look up, play the B section, look up, etc.) It's catchy. It's memorable. It's a win. I did have to correct some errors, I did have her mark her music. But she loves it, she's playing it well - I'm not ashamed to have someone hear her play it and see the music at the same time!
