Customer questions & answers

Question:
Will this material ever be available as a hard copy? I love your arrangements but I've had to turn down so much of your repertoire because there was only a digital version available. Just curious as to why that is. Again, I love your work! Thank you.

Answer:
Thanks for your questions! 1. These "mini books" will never be in hardcopy due to their small size (they're each only 14-18 pages). 2. In terms of hardcopy: printing costs doubled (for large runs) and nearly tripled for short runs post-Covid. This has made it economically untenable to print all of our titles in hardcopy due to limited demand spread across a large product catalog (we currently have 120+ titles in hardcopy - that's a lot to keep up with!) Additionally, the industry on the whole is moving more and more towards digital materials and will continue to do so as the years roll along. This is largely due to costs of printing, taxes on inventory, storage costs, rising postal rates, increases in shipping/packing materials, and on and on. As an independent publishing company we pride ourselves in printing solely in the U.S. and using local suppliers for all of our packaging supplies. We love hardcopy, but it is expensive! With digital materials we can continue to add to our catalog, expanding into new arenas to suit the needs of teachers and students. On the positive side, digital materials have many upsides. More and more we are seeing teachers and students going "paperless." They enjoy the flexibility of digital materials in terms of being able to easily customize repertoire choices for students (especially with our studio license options that allow you to buy a piece or book once and then use it for life in an unlimited capacity for your studio/students). We are also seeing trends towards students storing, accessing, and using their materials on tablets/iPads. For me personally as a musician I love that I can have my entire catalog of music available at the touch of a button and it's a lot lighter than lugging around a ton of books. Hope that helps and offers some explanation from our perspective as a print music publisher!

The Mission X collections are fitting the bill for more sophisticated Halloween music for my tweens and early teens who also have precious little time for supplements. These collections are set up similar to the method books however give a greater sense of accomplishment with longer pieces for those older musicians. Chrissy's music is a hit every time!
