Used this piece at my recital this year. My student loved this one. He worked hard to learn it because he like it so much. We were studying Jazz this semester and this piece was a great one for my students. Will use it again and again.

I used Bluesy Tuesday for a student who was just in town for the summer, and needed some “fun music” to keep her going before she went back home to her regular teacher. I have to say that she absolutely loved the piece. She even called her father in for one of the lessons because he loves the blues, and she had never been able to find any easy blues music to play, so she wanted to demonstrate her ability! We both had a great time while she was learning this piece.

I gave Bluesy Tuesday to a student that loves jazz, blues and boogie piano. I knew he’d enjoy it because it’s fun and easy to pick up on the patterns. Since I gave it to him two weeks ago, he’s memorized it and says he wants it added to his repertoire (which is an important part of my studio’s incentive program this year). Thank you, Jennifer, for composing songs that my students are passionate about playing!

Bluesy Tuesday is the first “real” piece that I gave a beginning 11-year-old boy. Yes, beginner! This boy is so bright and just flew through Movement 1 of Piano Pronto after transitioning out of a primer method in 2 weeks. It was a challenge for him, as he had only had two months of lessons, but the piece is so “user-friendly” and catchy, with jazz runs that he absolutely was so proud of playing and demonstrating for his class at school, friends, Grandma, etc. He even wrote, “Bluesy Tuesday” all over his studio binder! I can’t wait to teach him more of Jennifer Eklund’s work!
