Spooky Goings On
Spooky Goings On, composed by Jenny Walker is an evenly-leveled duet for two intermediate players. There is no key change, merely the requirement to maintain a slowish, steady beat, provided mainly by the secondo player. Whether it’s ghosts, witches, or spiders that come to mind, this piece will be enjoyed by students and teachers alike.
Double Trouble is a book of unique duets by Stacy Fahrion. This book gives pianists opportunities to experiment with blues improvisation and extended techniques. It includes showy pieces in odd meters, several wild boogies, a melancholy lyrical waltz, and, of course, a tarantella that has Itsy Bitsy Spider surreptitiously woven into it. Most of the pieces are based in minor keys, modal, or use the double harmonic major scale.
Snow Ride by British composer Jenny Walker is an evenly-leveled duet for two intermediate players. Apart from the introduction, the secondo player provides the rhythmic drive and the primo player has a slower, calmer feel. There is a gentle, steady flow depicting a horse-drawn carriage being driven through the snow.
